It all starts with a mound of clay.
Joyful Clay uses wheel-thrown and hand-built techniques (and usually a combination of the two) to create its functional work. Each piece is handmade, start to finish, by Sarah, using a buff stoneware clay.
After being created and then allowed to dry for several days, the work is fired in an oxidation kiln. Glazes are then applied (usually they are brushed, but sometimes dipped). All images you see appear on the work is hand-painted glaze. The work is then fired again to cone 5.
Work is microwave safe and dishwasher safe.
Only lead-free, food safe glazes are used.
